Jacquelyn Heller began painting as a child, drawn to the joy of translating what she saw and felt into form. At eight, she won her first art prize for a sketch of a turtle dove—a moment that sparked a lifelong devotion to visual expression.
After earning degrees in teaching and drama, Jacquelyn pursued academic studies in art, developing a profound relationship with the visual language of painting through the lens of art history—from ancient cave paintings to contemporary works. Though the program emphasized theory over studio practice, it sharpened her eye for composition, shape, and the emotional resonance of form.
Working primarily in acrylic, her artistic journey has included explorations of speed and texture, detail and spontaneity. In recent years, her focus has shifted from representation to essence—from precision to presence.
Inspired by natural elements—rock formations, snow-laced creeks, the push and pull of tides—Jacquelyn paints the quiet transformations of the earth. Her work seeks the life within what seems still, the feeling that lingers beneath the surface.
Through her art, Jacquelyn invites us to pause, look closely, and feel more deeply. To witness what remains when we let go of detail and step into the essence of the world around us.
Painting the soul of the natural world.
